Is anyone ready for Winter yet??? Wow! These high temperatures seem to start earlier and earlier every year. PLEASE drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after playing the golf course. Also, ALWAYS use sunscreen when out there playing. It seems simple, but you would be surprised to know that not many golfers that come out here do both of those things. I have water and sunscreen available in the pro shop, so there is no excuse!

We have a lot going on during the week for everyone to participate in. Monday and Wednesday the ladies play their 9 hole events. Tuesday and Thursday the over 55 men’s league plays 18 holes at 8:30 AM. My 9 hole scramble is on Tuesday nights at 5:00 PM, with signups before 4:30 PM. We are having 30 or so players each Tuesday night, and I really appreciate the support. Please come out and play in any, or all, of these very fine events.

There are 2 tournaments in July that will close the golf course. The Kinetic/Windstream Community Care Scramble is Saturday, July 13. The course will be closed until 1:30 PM. The Live Oak Open is on July 27/28, which closes the course until 1:30 PM on both of those days. Please sign up as early as possible if you would like to play in either of these tournaments.

THANK YOU to those of you that have come in and brought a voided check so we can draft your dues payment. I greatly appreciate you doing this, and for those of you that have not done so yet, PLEASE try to do this in July. It simplifies everything and is very important to the operation of the club.

Starting this month, I am starting a membership drive with your help. For every person you send me that ends up joining the club for a minimum of 3 months, I will take $50.00 off of your dues! We are constantly gaining a few here and there, but then a few will leave also. I am asking for your help in this matter so we can continue to make “your club”, the best it can be! With chemical prices going through the roof, older equipment needing to be repaired or replaced, having to constantly run our irrigation system, it is certainly difficult at best during the heat of the Summer. I feel we have a very good product for you here, some players have said it is the best they have seen here in many years! In order to keep it this way, or try to even get to another level, we need more members. PLEASE help finding new possible members, as it will help us in the long run and also help your pocketbook.

I appreciate your assistance!

First of all, SUMMER is here.  Holy smokes has it been HOT and humid here lately.  Looking forward to the rest of summer.  Warm temps grow grass, with the help of a lil bit of H2O.  Course is really looking great and I want to thank ALL members for helping out in following the few rules about staying outside the ropes and parking on the cart paths as much as possible.  Without everyone helping out in this manner, well, there would be no grass in very sensitive areas, around greens etc…. Thank you.  I would also like to see everyone take part in filling their divots and repairing their ball marks on the greens.  It’s things like this that really help out in healing divots and ball marks faster.
As for the course.  The aerification went well and the greens are almost grown back in.  Our plan is to maintain them as they are, top dress them a couple of weeks prior to the Live Oak Open, and then in August aerify them again.  We will be fertilizing out fairways the first week of July.  Please be prepared for the course to be closed the late afternoon on the day of fertilizing. More than likely after 5 pm.
My staff and I want to thank you all for your great support and compliments about the course.  Like I’ve said before, our goal is to continue getting better and we will continue to do so.
