What a beautiful April we just had! The weather was perfect, the golf course was looking super, and many of you told me how well you played. I really hope all of this continues throughout the month of May.

I would like to congratulate Bill Sivik for his 3rd hole in one. Bill aced #8 on Thursday in the “our gang” group. Nice going Billy!

We have one event coming up which is the SHS Football/Abercrombie and Edwards fundraiser on Saturday, June 1. This annual 3 person scramble already has 11 teams, so if you would like to enter a team, please contact me as soon as possible. They are only taking the first 18 teams that sign up.

I would like to inform you of a few things you might not know. Every Monday afternoon at 3:30 PM on radio station 106.5, I do a live spot with Wayne Littrel. I talk about golf related things going on, here at the club and on the tours. It is a fun thing to do each week, and many have told me they “heard me on the radio”! If you get a minute around that time, tune in to 106.5 and take a listen. Also, if you didn’t know, SCC is on Facebook. We are at Suwannee Country Club if you would like to check us out. All golf events and results are posted there.

Finally, our newly updated website is up and running. Go to, and go through the site. You will see lots of interesting things about the history of our course, how to become a sponsor of the Live Oak Open, Junior Golf Camp information and how to sign up, membership and rates, etc. All of these new ways to get information out to the public is where our club is headed. This brings me to my final point. Our fiscal year ends October 31. I would like for ALL MEMBERS by this date to be paying your dues by automatic drafting of your accounts. All that we would need is a voided check and we would be able to set that up. You would be able to cancel this at any time if you stopped being a member. As an incentive to get this done in a timely manner, if you get this done in the next 2 months, I will give you $20.00 of Bob Bucks to spend in the Pro Shop (on anything!). Please come see me with a voided check to start this as soon as possible. By doing this, our club will be saving a substantial amount of money in the long run, which may be used to better your golf course and facility. THANK YOU in advance!

Beginning this month, I will be posting the newsletter on our website. I am slowly eliminating the cost of mailing out the statements and newsletters. If for some reason you do not have access to a smart phone, computer, iPad, etc., please let me know in the pro shop. I will also keep one posted in the back area where the bulletin boards are at.

Seems like just the other day we were discussing how cold it was. Well, well, well, spring was short and now the heat is coming on.  That’s all good because, along with that comes great grass growing weather.  Here lately we have verticut greens, fertilized fairways, and like everyone has noticed, top dressed greens.  The good thing is, the top dressing is just about gone.  Greens are in great shape and we are doing everything we can to give you all the best possible playing conditions we can provide you.  On Monday, June 10, the golf course will be closed all day. We are aerifying all greens and also sanding them. This is a very necessary procedure to ensure the health of the greens for the remainder of the summer. Thank you for your understanding.

Other than those few things, things will continue and we will keep producing the best possible conditions for all who play our course.
